Lingerie is stunning and beautiful, but it can also be downright terrifying. Since you might be considering slipping into something a little lacy in the coming weeks before our session, I want to be sure you do it with complete confidence. Whether it’s your first time wearing lingerie or you consider it part of your daily wardrobe, I want to provide you with the many do’s and don’ts of lingerie to provide a comfortable and empowering experience.

ONE

Try on your lingerie!! And yep I mean every single piece you have brought or have found in your wardrobe at home.

TWO

If shopping for new lingerie don’t get caught up in tag sizes! Sizes can vary depending on the brand and style of the piece so what you may be in one brand could be different in another, plus we are human, we all come in different shapes and sizes.

THREE

Next think Marie Kondo, does this outfit spark joy and confidence? If there is even the tiniest bit of “um, maybe? unsure?" then no girl this ain’t your piece!

FOUR

The right fit, Unsure of your measurements, or what suits you? Don’t be afraid to ask the gal behind the counter at Bras n Things, or Flirt Boutique, they have a wealth of knowledge of helping women with their sizing, colors to suit their skin tone and more! Also don’t be afraid to try a color on because it might be “bright”, if you try it on and don’t like it cool.

FIVE

This one is for all my gals out there who are self-conscious about their tummy area and wanting that little extra coverage (even though you don’t need it!), opt for high waisted underwear, and bodysuits.

WHAT COLORS SUIT MY SKIN TONE?

Ok I am going to keep this one as simple as possible, and please know there is always the exception to the rule!! The most important thing I can say is to select colors that you feel confident in, and that also complement your skin and the aesthetic of the studio. If you know a color washes you out, then steer clear, do not buy it! As a general rule of thumb pale skin tones often look good in darker colors, whilst darker skin tones look good in lighter colors, but of course, this can sometimes be quite the opposite! My personal favorites and what I think everyone looks great in are jewel tones, teals, blues, emeralds, and fuchsia purples. I have a lot of these colors in my studio closet, and of course black!

BODY TYPES

HOURGLASS

If you have a stereotypical “36 - 24 - 36” figure, wear lingerie that adds oomph to your already hot bod. With shoulders and hips that are of the same width and a slender waistline, anything sits well on this type of body. However, garter belts, teddies, and corsets are top-notch choices for this body type. You can also go for a high-leg panty or a thong with a lace bra.

TRIANGLE

If you’ve got a triangle body shape—wider hips and a narrower upper body—lingerie is your secret weapon to balance and accentuate your gorgeous curves! Think push-up bras, balconettes, or lace bralettes with embellishments to add volume up top, while high-cut panties, cheeky briefs, or strappy thongs keep the focus on those killer legs. Bodysuits with plunging necklines and lace detailing can create a sultry, streamlined silhouette, while corsets or babydolls with underbust support highlight your waist and add a touch of va-va-voom. Play with textures, bold colors, and sheer panels to keep things flirty and fabulous—because confidence is the sexiest thing you can wear!

ROUND

Rounded waist and torso, much wider than your hips make up a rounded body figure. Look for any style that will even out your body proportions. Anything that defines your busy line is a great option here! A bodysuit also sits well on this body type, slimming the hips.

INVERTED TRIANGLE

If you have wide shoulders, this is your body type. You have the freedom to showcase a few different areas if this is you! Halter style necklines are best. If you have a small bottom, divert your attention to the top or vice versa.

RECTANGLE

If your body lacks defined curves, you have a rectangular body. Try something that cinches at your waistline or anything that adds curves to your body! Adding curves will add sensuality. Accentuating your breasts or a garter belt paired with longer looks will create a sexy look!

Size Range – They have a great selection form xs to 4xl and Bra sizes up to 44J. My bigger chested ladies this is the shop for you, like me you need some support for the girls to look good when they are bigger so I suggest getting some pieces that make them look amazing.

Price Range – Bras and underwear can range from $30-$100 per piece. Full 3 piece sets might be $100 - $300, and bodysuits ranging $40-120.

Why they’re on my list – Great quality with beautiful pieces at very affordable prices and variety for days.

Size Range – Ranges from petit, plus, and fuller bust. They’ve got a lot of options! Bra for specific cup sizes is harder to find. Mostly stretchy pieces and smaller breasts are good for their pieces with underwire. If you have D or larger I would go with no underwire or get lingerie with your cup size for a perfect fit.

Price Range – Prices range from $5 to $40 and you can easily get a ton of pieces to try on and see what you like best for under $50!
